The key you hold to your npub is the jar. The relationships built sat by sat, value sent directly without a platform taking its portion, those are the deeds inside it. The exile will end. What you hold when it does is the question.

Every note you put on Nostr is signed with your private key the way Jeremiah signed his deed, and the signature cannot be forged in the same way the deed could not be forged, which is to say: not by anyone who didn't hold the key. The relays are the witnesses. The math stands in for the court of the guard sitting in Anathoth watching the silver change hands. When the platform you used before folds or gets acquired or changes what it will permit, the signatures are still there. The witnesses don't forget.

When Jeremiah paid his cousin the silver there was no party between them taking a portion. No system that decided how visible the transaction would be. The money moved from one hand to another and the land changed ownership and the witnesses saw it and that was the whole of it, complete and final. The V4V model is this old. It is not new technology. It is the oldest economic arrangement there is, which is: I made something, you found it worth something, here is the worth returned, and no one standing between us with their hand out.

Your content lives on servers you don't control, under terms that change when the company needs them to change, administered by people you will never meet who have no particular obligation to you and know it. This is not a complaint about the people who built the platforms. It is just a description of what the thing is. The deed is not the same as the field but it is the closest thing to the field you can hold in your hands, and a man with a deed in a clay jar has something a man with a platform account does not.

After Jeremiah signed the deed his cousin Hanamel signed it and then the witnesses signed it and then Jeremiah handed the whole sealed document to Baruch and told him to put it in a clay jar and keep it. He did not do this because he thought the jar would survive the siege. He did this because he thought it would survive the exile, the decades, the return, the arguments about who owned what when everything was being rebuilt and everyone had a different memory of how things had been. The jar was for the dispute that hadn't happened yet. That is what witnesses are for.

What you are looking at is not your audience but the platform's audience, and the platform is letting you address them for reasons that have nothing to do with your interests and everything to do with theirs. People who saw him do this thought they understood what they were seeing. They didn't. He was not conducting business. He was making a statement about time, about which part of time mattered and which part everyone else was confused about.
