Your followers are not yours. Your content lives on servers you don't control, under terms that change when the company needs them to change, administered by people you will never meet who have no particular obligation to you and know it. This is not a complaint about the people who built the platforms. It is just a description of what the thing is. The deed is not the same as the field but it is the closest thing to the field you can hold in your hands, and a man with a deed in a clay jar has something a man with a platform account does not.
